The Challenge
Corporate companies understand the value of providing workplace nutrition education being an important health focus because it boosts daily productivity, lowers health care costs, and improves overall staff retention. At the same time companies face several key challenges from their staff when introducing nutrition education programmes: employee resistance, time constraints, and skepticism over corporate motives.
Common Reactions include:
- Resistance to change: Staff often dislike being told what to eat or feel their personal habits are being judged.
- Lack of time: Busy workers feel they do not have time to plan, shop for, or cook healthy meals during the workday.
- Mistrust of motives: Workers may worry the company only wants to cut health insurance costs rather than genuinely care about their well-being.
- Cost concerns: Healthy food options are often seen as more expensive or harder to buy on a budget.
- Dietary conflicts: Universal advice may ignore personal food allergies, cultural preferences, or different health needs.
- ROI and Metrics: Leadership teams increasingly demand measurable value from wellness spending, using metrics like reduced absenteeism and lower healthcare utilization to justify nutrition programs.
The Answer

Using focus related Artwork in office areas, particularly around food access areas and canteens is a subtle driver of behaviour change to promote eating fruit and vegetables. Artworks involving visual cueing and associative priming, which increases food salience help trigger automatic desire or preference. Artworks serve as external sensory reminders that shift cognitive attention toward fresh produce.
Visual Salience: Colourful depictions of produce increase the cognitive visibility of food, making fruits and vegetables top-of-mind during meal selection.
Implicit Association: Regularly viewing aesthetically pleasing food art builds positive subconscious associations with the taste and freshness of plant-based foods.
Artworks involving fruits and vegetables can gently boost awareness of healthy eating in an office, but they work best as a mild visual cue rather than a direct driver of behaviour change without creating staff resistance.

We transform high-res stamp scans into remastered, exhibition-grade art. Royal Mail compliant, copyrighted, and available for custom commissions at The Stamp Art Gallery.
In this case study solution, The Stamp Art Gallery Commission creates its own versions of the Fun Fruit & Veg Artworks of the 2003 Great Britain “Fun Fruit and Veg” postage stamp issue, designed by Johnson Banks featuring ten 1st class self-adhesive stamps, unique stick-on facial features.

The environmental psychology highlight of nutrition artworks in the workplace is that they serve as visual “nudges” and cognitive primes that subconsciously steer employees toward healthier behaviours, mindful eating, and positive well-being.
Cognitive Priming: Viewing images of fresh produce, vibrant vegetables, or balanced meals activates health-related mental concepts. This subtle cue makes employees more conscious of their nutritional choices during breaks or lunch.

The idea was that you could create your own vegetable faces (inspired by Archimboldo, fuzzy felt and Mr Potato head) as displayed here in a very neat, graphic designer examples. Some of the designs done by the ‘Great British Public’ were considerably more unhinged, but that in a way, was the fun of it.
